
about Vira Pogurska
Vira is a professional musician from Kyiv who lives and works in Berlin.
Her musical journey began at the age of seven with the piano. Shortly after, she discovered the bandura (a traditional Ukrainian instrument), as well as the saxophone and the entire world of folk and choral singing, all of which continue to shape her unique style to this day.
Vira has a Master's degree in Music Arts (specialising in saxophone) from the National University of Culture and Arts in Kyiv and has won numerous international competitions.
From 2008 to 2022, she was a member of the renowned Ukrainian Girls band Freedom Jazz, which took second place in the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest and served as the stage band for Volodymyr Zelensky's late-night show Vechirniy Kyiv. In this band, Vira played alto and soprano saxophone and undertook numerous concert tours with performances in Ukraine and worldwide.
In 2018, Vira graduated from ProDJ School Kyiv, where she learned the art of DJing and music production. With passion, she immersed herself in the world of electronic music, developed her own style, and launched her unique project VIRA DJ & Sax.
The VIRA Dj&Sax project quickly won the favour and love of audiences not only in Ukraine, but also abroad, opening up new creative possibilities and facets. Vira's musical versatility allows her to take a highly complex approach to creating exclusive musical sketches in nearly all musical styles and genres.
